Odruain
Where the mountains breathe storm and stone, the Drakhar rule the heights.
Overview
Odruain is a land of savage beauty — storm-lashed highlands, wind-scoured cliffs, frozen moors, and ancient stone circles older than recorded history. Though described as a federation by outsiders, Odruain functions as a dual hierarchy: Drakhar Sky-Lord houses dominate the mountain strongholds and aerial passes, while Human and Half-Gorrak clans govern the valleys, moors, and lowland forests below.
The Drakhar of Odruain are not guests or minorities. They are sky-lords, commanding the heights through aerial mastery, coordinated sky-patrols, long-range talon-forts, and ancient oaths sworn to the land itself. Their symbiotic — and sometimes tense — relationship with the clans below defines a culture of endurance, ancestral tradition, and the harsh lessons of high altitude living.
Dual Society
Highland Sky-Lord Houses are Drakhar noble families with hereditary aerial dominion over specific mountain ranges and passes. They command respect through flight superiority and ancient pacts, and they guard the sky routes that connect Odruain’s interior to the wider world. Beneath them, the Ridge Clans — Human and Half-Gorrak communities — control the valleys, forests, and lowland trade routes with their own proud traditions and political structures.
Relations between sky-lords and clan-folk range from genuine partnership to grudging co-existence depending on family, season, and history. Both groups share a deep suspicion of outside empires, a reverence for endurance as a virtue, and a pragmatic understanding that Odruain’s independence depends on them not being divided when it matters.
Military & Traditions
Odruain’s primary military strength lies in Drakhar aerial superiority — sky-lances, coordinated patrol wings, and the intimate knowledge of mountain terrain that makes defending the highlands almost impossible for outside forces. Clan-folk contribute guerrilla fighters, expert trappers, and heavily armoured infantry suited to narrow passes and brutal winter conditions.
The culture values endurance, direct speech, and earned authority. Oaths are taken seriously and broken rarely. Ancient stone circles serve as meeting grounds and ritual sites shared between sky-lord and clan traditions. Odruain has no formal academy comparable to Temair, but its warrior traditions — both aerial and ground-based — are respected across Tyrmire.
